KCP&L is building a next-generation smart grid
in midtown Kansas City that will showcase the
advanced utility of the future.
KCP&L SmartGrid will offer new
products and services to customers who live and work
in the demonstration area.
KCP&L has a five-year timeline for the
demonstration.
KCP&L SmartGrid demonstration will introduce advanced technologies in Kansas City's urban core. The smart grid system will reduce energy delivery costs and area power outages, and will get the lights back on more quickly when they do go out. It will also help strengthen the nation's power grid.
The multi-year project will later benefit all customers when KCP&L uses what is learned to introduce the new smart grid technology across our entire service region.
